A Turning Point

Forever came into my life at just the right time. Eight years ago I gave up alcohol after drinking every day for thirty years. No small achievement. Don’t get me wrong I was not an obvious drinker or stereotypical alcoholic to many, but having run four restaurants with my then husband meant that alcohol was always around, and daily drinking was woven into the fabric of my life. I am not sure who qualifies as ‘alcoholic’ or the preferred term which seems to be ‘drink dependent’ but I would say if you can’t stop for a week without thinking about it, it is probably playing too important a role in your life.

Over a period of twenty-five years my husband David and I successfully ran four different restaurants including one in Guernsey which was widely acclaimed and the only Guernsey restaurant to appear in the Good Food Guide for ten consecutive years. So yes, we were outwardly successful but this came to an untimely end when David was diagnosed with Bi Polar and admitted to being an alcoholic. 

We ended up bankrupt and I became the main breadwinner, as well as supporting David with his health issues.

Drinking this way over time obviously took its toll on my health and more visibly my weight.  I decided to quit and with the help of Turning Point and my wonderful Support Worker, I managed to break a habit that had been with me throughout my adult life.

Stopping drinking left a big gap. You suddenly find you have more time available to do other things. You don’t fall asleep after a few glasses of wine (my go-to drink), and you have more energy. You are also open to find ways to fill that void. The Universe in its very timely fashion came into my life and in 2016 I came across the world of Forever.

Initially through the products I started to take responsibility for my health. After working on my mindset with my Forever mentor, I was feeling lean and clean mentally which enabled me to finally be able to tackle the weight problem that had plagued me my whole life because I wanted to feel lean and clean physically too. I had been a lifelong yo-yo dieter, and the C9 and F15 weight management programmes were revolutionary for me. For the first time, not only did I lose the weight, but I was feeling happy and not hungry the entire time. More importantly, I have maintained this ever since. It fills me with joy every time I say, I am a size twelve. I am now finally happy in my healthy BMI range.

I started to look and feel better, people commented, my confidence grew, and I decided to start selling the products as I am living proof of the benefits and anyone who knew me could see the difference. I developed a good retail customer base but struggled more with the recruiting side as people came and went in my team.

But life had not finished with me and a curve ball was thrown my way in 2020 during the first lock-down. My husband of forty years left and I was devastated. My Forever family were a God-send and the support and care I received during that time was vital and helped me through the darkest of times.

So fast forward to November 2020 and I decided to get my head properly in the game and take the business seriously, applying myself in an entirely new way. Since working with my business partners my mindset has changed entirely and I now have a Leader mentality and have developed the skills necessary to successfully recruit and support my team to success which will, of course, mean my business is successful too. Adopting a DMO (Daily Method of Operation) has made a huge difference to my results.

Through the products and the business opportunity my life today is unrecognisable. Forever has helped me become the person I was meant to be. It’s never too late and you are never too old. Now at sixty-five I couldn’t be happier, healthier or feeling more optimistic about the future. I have big plans.
