I Couldn't Be More Grateful
Family Transportation // Janine
Before Forever, Janine worked in the family transportation business…
Life was pretty much a treadmill, I worked long hours and it was stressful at times. I had no flexibility and certainly no time for myself. My life revolved around work and taking care of my family. After being particularly unwell we took a holiday where I met a lady who suggested some products that I might like to try. I had met my first Forever Business Owner.
It’s fair to say that at this point in my life my ongoing health issues were taking their toll and I was suffering with anxiety and depression. When I returned from holiday some products had arrived so I duly tried them, without expectation. I signed up simply to get a discount on the products. Friends and family saw how much better I was looking and asked me to order them some products too. I started to grow a customer base completely organically.
I was retailing well and having some success. It was only at that point that I started to have conversations about the marketing plan and a whole new world opened up to me. I thought, ‘Maybe I could do this instead and it would be less stressful’.
Of course, I was met with the usual negativity as people who didn’t understand network marketing said they were surprised that I had joined Forever. I did my research but for me the integrity of the people I interacted with combined with the quality of the products were all the reassurance I needed. I ignored the critics as they were uneducated about the industry and their attitudes were usually ill-formed, hand-me-down beliefs.
I gave up my role in the family business six years ago and have never felt happier. I find every day enjoyable; I’ve made so many friends and connections and the products have helped so many people. I’ve been lucky enough to go to Dallas to see where our products are produced and tested. I am really confident about recommending them as I’ve seen first-hand how they are made. I’m now at Manager level on the marketing plan, which I reached during lockdown. I work closely with inspiring, professional people who are so generous with their time and expertise. I took my daughter, Olivia, to the Global Rally in Stockholm, and to see her face as we shared in the wonderful experiences was just amazing.
My working week could not be more different now and it has truly changed me as a person both inside and out. Apart from doing the college run with my daughter, my day is my own to plan as I choose. I have time to go to the gym at lunchtime and schedule my walks in the Brecon Beacons with my dogs around the weather. I am embracing learning to paddleboard and have even become an ambassador for the paddleboard company Bluefin! An extremely pleasant shock and their values and ethics align with me completely.
Apart from feeling well again – something that I will never take for granted - there are skills I have developed that have changed me, increasing my confidence and happiness. The personal development journey is on-going and I never thought that I would be able to stand up and present in public. Along the way I changed my mindset; I had all sorts of preconceptions about the gym, feeling conspicuous and out of place. However, I realised that everyone is far too preoccupied with themselves to care about what I’m doing and I am now a community champion helping others become comfortable in the gym.
My life has also become about contribution; I am part of small group of fundraisers who raise funds for research into breast cancer. We have no office or overheads so everything we raise goes to the Velindre charity and we have raised over £1million. I am a supporter of the psoriasis association having been a long-term sufferer of the condition including psoriatic arthritis. I love having the flexibility to be involved in different community work and my proudest achievement is co-founding an award-winning local community group which spans the generations from 6 to 90+.
Now aged forty-seven, I am the happiest and the healthiest I have ever been. I set goals and enjoy ticking them off – both personal and professional and I am particularly excited about the developments in my team and seeing them enjoy success. I am inspired to be a role model for my son and daughter and even get to enjoy more time and freedom with my husband, who now works four days a week, as we pack up the camper van and take long weekends away. Life is good and a far cry from what it used to be. I will never take my good health for granted - I could not be more grateful.
